Why was Hillary Clinton unlikeable as a candidate?

While many people never expected Donald Trump to become president of the United States, his victory seemed more likely when you considered what he was up against. Hillary Clinton was considered the ‘safe’ choice for Democrats to run, and there was an air of arrogance about the fact they believed she could automatically beat Trump.

Trump was seen as such an unwinnable candidate that Clinton was arrogant from the start about her inevitable victory. However, Hillary had her fair share of skeletons in her closet that were brought up during the election campaign that made her increasing unpalatable.

Hillary had a provable history of political corruption and simply riding the wave of the corrupt system. Donald Trump seemed to many like an outsider who would, at least spitefully, shake up that corrupt system.

Hillary was described by many as a shrill and robotic type of candidate who did not have any sincerity about her. Even though Trump was dishonest, he was much more colloquial in his speech and attitude, giving him the outward appearance of someone who was more honesty and likeable.

Trump made no apologies for his abrasive attitude, which was attractive to people who were tired of the ‘fake’ persona that career politicians had. In many ways, Hillary was the worst candidate to run against someone like Trump because she was totally part of the political machine and dripped with insincerity.

Trump’s victory can be attributed to many factors, but one is that he was running against a candidate who arrogantly stuck to the status quo. Hillary never once showed any indication she took Trump or those who sympathized with the change he might have offered seriously.

This can be seen as one of the main reasons Hillary Clinton was considered an unpalatable candidate by many Americans.

Why celebrities like Kanye West make weak political leaders

Published

Kanye West

Since the election of people like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Donald Trump to political office, people have speculated that more people from the celebrity world are destined for political futures. Kanye West is one popular choice, and he has flagged on several occasions a desire to run for president of the United States.

However, these people ultimately make poor political leaders. Even the ‘Governator’ was a mediocre politician at best, who ended up taking monied interests after campaigning on a promise to self-fund and defeat political corruption.

A lot of the time celebrities are turned to because they are leaders without political backgrounds. Many of them are charismatic and speak on political issues, and people believe that they will ‘shake up’ the political process.

However, history has shown that they never really shake anything up. They are simply more comfortable for monied interests to manipulate because of their inexperience. What you end up getting is a weaker politician who knows nothing about their job and ends up disappointing people on a routine basis.

While it is tempting to make your favourite celebrity leader of the free world, is that really going to help anyone? It’s ultimately a very shallow move that is meaningless at best and damaging at worst.

The novelty of having a celebrity elected to political office is unfortunately too tempting for some people to resist. This is the case even when there are serious candidates who represent their interests better – the uninformed masses are going to vote with the hearts and not their heads because they really don’t know any better.

The best thing people can do is remember that celebrities are not ideal political candidates just because they are popular. They are actually the worst my many measures.

Was Arnold Schwarzenegger a good Governor?

Published

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the Governor of California for some time, and there has been a lot of debate about whether or not he did a good job. He was the first Hollywood movie star to win a run for political office, and there was naturally a lot of hype surrounding is ascendency to the position.

Many speculated that he won simply because of his celebrity status. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger had a likeable ‘American dream’ story, being a foreigner who travelled to the United States to achieve success. Unlike his political rivals, Arnold has a genuine quality and was not a ‘career politician’, a status that many people had begun to lose faith in due to political donations from interest groups.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was popular initially because he said he would self-fund his campaign, meaning that he would not be influenced by donations. However, this changed after he was elected.

When he left office, he was asked about the promise he did not meet. He pretty much said that as a politician, he had to make promises that were impossible to keep.

Many people have said that since he had no experience, he did pretty okay as Governor. Whether he did it intentionally or not, he caved into monied interests and ended up being like most other politicians, which is he promised he would not be.

While many people rallied behind Arnold Schwarzenegger because they believed he would bring new hope to the state of California, he ultimately did not live up to the hype that surrounded him. Many people were left disappointed by his performance as Governor, and you can’t really blame them for feeling that way.

Ultimately, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as Governor of California, is a cautionary tale of why a celebrity candidate is not necessarily going to bring great change.

Understanding the leadership style of George W. Bush

Published

George-W-Bush

When you attempt to do a close examination of the style of leadership of George W. Bush, there are many factors that you need to consider. A lot of the information that needs to be looked at is based around what can be gleaned from those who worked closely with him during his presidency.

While many people from both sides of the political aisle have their own opinion about Bush, the people who were most closely associated with his leadership style have a more nuanced point of view. Following this nuanced picture of the ex-president of the United States is essential to getting to the truth of the matter.

In many ways, such as with decisions to go to war with Iraq or execute significant tax cuts, Bush was a headstrong and stubborn leader. In other areas, such as his policy regarding the state of North Korea, he has floundered and delayed dealing with problems upfront. He has also had no qualms about flipping his view on issues over time.

Many people have described Bush as having a good leadership style, where he would listen to advisors and ask a lot of questions. However, he was also criticized as being inflexible once he had made his mind up. Some people have said he was too reliant on ideology instead of following realistic courses of action based in clear thought.

However, Bush ended up finding a leadership style that seemed to work for the most part. Bush had a clear vision and stuck to it, even if that vision was disagreed with by most. He would not allow matters to drift unresolved, even if the resolution was unpopular and not based on realistic thinking.

The defining moment of Bush’s presidency was the 2001 September 11 terrorist attacks, where there is still debate around the actions he took in the aftermath.
