3 big reasons people love McDonald

McDonald’s is the most successful and widespread fast-food chain in the entire world. The McDonalds brand is recognizable everywhere and has remained a prominent presence in pop culture since its inception.

However, McDonald’s has been one of the chief scapegoats people point their finger at when talking about the problem of obesity in countries like the United States. Many people look at McDonald’s because it has produced fast food and marketed it for children for decades, but this reasoning discounts the role of personal responsibility as well.

Regardless, people continue to love McDonald’s for a variety of reasons.

The food

Of course, McDonald’s is beloved for its iconic food. In many ways, it is the quintessential fast-food establishment with burgers, fries, milkshakes and chicken nuggets. McDonald’s has its own signature foods that you can’t get anywhere else, with unique sauces like Big Mac sauce that people come back for time and time again.

The happy meals

McDonald’s is popular with parents because of the happy meal – the signature kids offering that famously comes with a toy. It’s almost like an instant cure for unhappy kids, providing them with a quick, tasty meal and a brief distraction in the form of a cheaply produced toy.

The nostalgia and pop culture significance

McDonald’s is one of those pop culture icons that appears in many classic films and is something that many people grew up with. The ‘idea’ of McDonald’s in people’s minds is almost more appealing than the experience itself, and people will always have fond memories associated with their times in the McDonald’s playground as a child or going to get McDonald’s on a cold winter’s day as a hot meal.

As you can see, it’s not hard to understand why so many people love McDonald’s no matter what.

Why Gordon Ramsay became so popular

Published

Gordon Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay is one of the most recognizable celebrity chefs out there. He has had multiple different TV shows (the most famous being Hells Kitchen, and Kitchen Nightmares), and has released dozens of cookbooks that have become international bestsellers.

But why did Gordon Ramsay become so popular as a celebrity chef?

His drill-sergeant style of restaurant management and cooking

Basically, Gordon Ramsay became so popular because of his abrasive and authoritative style of managing a kitchen. He would routinely insult his underlings in a military-style that create a tense environment that was perfect for drama.

Most people who enjoyed Gordan Ramsay’s TV shows did not care about the technical cooking element but wanted to see him insult people. In an effort to impress Gordon, most people would end up making even more mistakes and be on the firing line of his hilariously creative insults.

This was the premise of his Kitchen Nightmares show, where he would come into a failing restaurant and whip it into shape with his tough attitude. Gordon has no patience for even the slightest mistakes and was absolutely livid whenever he saw health and safety practises being ignored.

His excellent cooking skills

Despite becoming famous for his signature management style, Gordon Ramsay has remained relevant since then due to the fact he was always an excellent chef. Gordon Ramsay is one of the world’s best, and people are willing to pay a lot of money to have him speak to a class or simply sponsor a cooking product.

Ramsay has toured around the world on speaking engagements about cooking and is valued for his expertise. It goes to show that Gordon actually had the cooking talent to back up all the insults he has yelled at people over the years.

best healthy snacks for your next road trip

Eating healthy during a long road trip is often very difficult. It’s easy to stop off at a random fast food joint and smash a quick feed before hitting the road again. Nonetheless, eating fast food for every road trip meal isn’t great for your health, and it’s a waste of money. For those long road trips, stick to some of the healthy snacks we’ve listed below!

Protein bars

Protein bars are tasty, healthy and filling; however, be warned, there are many brands out there that are pumped with sugar and unnecessary nasties. Looked for brands with natural ingredients and stick to those (even if they are a little more expensive).

Hummus and celery

Hummus and celery are a great combination. They blend together very well and are perfect for when you’re feeling a little peckish. Moreover, hummus has heaps of Vitamin B and celery is low in calories, making it the ideal crudité for dipping.

Walnuts and cashews

Nuts are a great, healthy snack. They are full of healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which basically means they’ll make you feel fuller for longer. Nonetheless, steer clear of brands that are pumped full of salt. You don’t need it.

Dried fruits

Dried fruits are also great and very filling. They are easy to eat and share with the entire family—great way to get some healthy sugars into your system.

Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate is one of the healthiest forms of chocolate available. It’s full of antioxidants, which have been linked to reducing the onset of many diseases, like cancer and heart disease. However, that doesn’t mean you should be smashing through a bar every few minutes, but it’s undoubtedly one of the better sweet treats for long road trips.

How to make the switch to a vegan diet as painlessly as possible

How to make the switch to a vegan diet as painlessly as possible

If you’ve grown up eating meat and animal products, then making the switch to a plant-based diet only will be a challenging venture. This is because your body is conditioned to consuming animal protein (both red and white meat), which is something your body will struggle without. However, as vegan dieting grows in popularity, making the big change will only become more comfortable and easier. Not convinced? Check out the following tips to find out more.

Don’t cut off everything cold turkey

The last thing you should be doing is cutting out everything related to animal products overnight. Make the changes to your diet as gradual as you like. Maybe start by simply removing red meat from your diet, and trialling that for a few weeks. If your body feels okay, then perhaps cut out white meat or dairy, whichever choice seems better at the time.

Maintain your protein intake

When you cut out meat and animal products, the biggest challenge you’ll face will be keeping up your protein levels. Look for high-protein plant snacks to help you get through these cravings.

Do your research

If you want to live by a strict vegan diet, you’ll need to do your research. Animal products can be found in a lot of different products (some you might not suspect), so make sure you’re carefully reading all product labels and ingredients information.

Try some vegan-friendly restaurants

As the vegan trend continues to grow and evolve, more and more restaurants are mindful of this, and as a result, are incorporating vegan-friendly dishes into their main menus. Try out some of the vegan-friendly restaurants in your area, and you might even pick up some nifty cooking tips.
